Hello!

I’m Jamie. There’s a very good chance I’m drinking tea and hanging out with my dog right now.

For the last twenty-five years, my identity has been rooted in motherhood. I wrote for years at See Jamie blog about homeschooling and the challenges of foster adoption (that content is still there if you’re interested) but I’ve since retired from homeschooling and the kids are nearly all grown.

Now in my [almost] empty-nester years, I’m pursuing joy and whimsy in this new chapter of life, which includes writing again.

Just a few years ago I opened a small private fitness studio — the result of a dream I’d have never even imagined before age 40. Not only has this given me a great sense of purpose, it’s given me some delightful friendships, which is a gift at any stage of life.

As I rediscover myself outside of motherhood, I’ll talk books, adventures, and small town coastal living. I’ll share about DIY projects, creative pursuits, the ongoing process of bringing more cottage style to our sturdy little 1960’s cinderblock home, inside and out — including someday growing something other than sand spurs.
